7. Chili and Spicy Foods
It is known that chili and spicy food cause heartburn and acid reflux. Chili and most spicy food contain capsaicin. Capsaicin is a compound which can slow down digestion. Whenever you consume spicy food, food will be in your stomach for a longer period. This is not ideal as it increases chance of heartburn. Chili and likewise foods can also irritate your esophagus, and can make your acid reflux more unbearable. For this reason, you should eat less chili and spicy foods or eliminate them from your diet entirely.
