13. Genetics
An autoimmune disease flare-up can be affected by external and internal factors. External factors include substances present in a patient’s surroundings as well as his or her dietary choices. Internal on the other hand includes a factor that is hard to avoid – genetics.
Since autoimmune diseases are usually hereditary, a patient who congenitally has it may develop tolerance to some of its symptoms; however, monitoring these factors as well as the flare-ups may help in preventing a much more intense case of the particular autoimmune disease that is acquired through genetics.
