10 Stomach Pain Causes

There are various reasons behind stomachaches and pains. The causes are usually diagnosed according to the location of the pain, symptoms, and the type of pain that the patient feels. Regardless of the reason behind a stomach pain, it’s important to have a doctor diagnosed it especially if it persists for more than a couple of days. Minor stomachaches can be treated at home using over-the-counter medications along with adequate rest.

1. Stones in the Gallbladder

One of the causes of stomach pain is gallbladder stones. The gallbladder refers to that small organ underneath the liver that is responsible for dispensing and storing the bile. Gallbladder stones are common in women who are 40 years old and above and are overweight. Once the stones move towards the small intestines coming from the gallbladder, this can trigger pain in the stomach and a host of other symptoms.

Eating lots of high-fat foods could worsen the gallbladder stones. That’s because a high amount of bile is required for these fats to be digested. If the liver will end up excreting more cholesterol than what your bile can dissolve, the excess cholesterol will develop into crystals and will eventually form into gallstones.
