The toxin that is causing the bacterial infection in tetanus can affect the nervous system and preventing the muscles from receiving signals from the spinal cord. This malfunction in turn leads to muscle spasms. Therefore, if you are infected with tetanus, you can experience tightening of muscles all over your body. In addition, as the condition evolves, your spasms will become more intense. In the most extreme cases, this condition can result in fatal consequences.
Tetanus infection should be treated as a medical emergency and not to be neglected. Hence, if you live in an area that is prone to tetanus, make sure you observe necessary precautions at all times.
