8. Chills
This is another symptom that can be associated with the early stages of shingles. In fact, having this symptom along with the cold-like symptoms can have someone thinking that maybe they are coming down with the flu. The reason that chills occur is that the shingles are pretty much caused by the same reason it is the result of a virus being present in the body. Chills are actually a defense mechanism that the body brings on to combat unwanted illness. Again a deceptive symptom and can be caused by any number of viruses in the body.
