7. Abdominal Pain

It is common for patients with salmonellosis to suffer from mild to severe abdominal pain. This is usually due to the inflammation of the intestines. Furthermore, the increased production of bile and the excessive stomach acid which the stomach produce to kill the bacteria, can also trigger pain or acid reflux. Constant diarrhea and vomiting can also strain the muscles in the abdomen and lower back.

8. Headaches and Muscle Aches

Other secondary symptoms of salmonella infection are headaches and muscle aches, which is usually a result of fever and dehydration. Vomiting and nausea can cause low blood sugar and general fatigue that can cause headaches and sometimes, the bacteria will produce toxins that will lead to muscle pain. Sometimes, frequent vomiting and diarrhea can also lead to muscle soreness.
