10. Sepsis
Sepsis one of the most dangerous symptoms of samonellosis. It is a type of systemic infection, an infection in the bloodstream, and hence affecting the entire body. It is believed that the Salmonella strains that can cause typhoid fever are the same strains that can cause sepsis. However, systemic infection can also be due to other strains. The sepsis that is due to salmonellosis will most likely occur in people who have existing illnesses or those with a compromised immune system. Sepsis can also result when the bacteria escapes the gastrointestinal tract. This usually occur when intestine inflammation is so severe that it causes a perforation in the bowels.
