10. Depression
A cancer diagnosis can make anyone feel depressed. This can also cause the patient to suffer from anxiety upon the realization that their life can end sooner. The drastic change of appearance can also make the patient feel even more depressed. In addition, fatigue, nausea, and other symptoms can make the patient suffer from emotional distress.
The fear of suffering, pain, and death is the main reason behind the depression that most cancer patients will feel. These patients will require social support to alleviate their emotional distress and improve their quality of life. Attending support groups of cancer patients may also help.
