3. Aural Fullness or Improper Fluid Drainage
Many patients have the sensation of fullness in their ear. This can also cause muffled hearing, tinnitus, pain and itching in the ear. This pressure or aural fullness is the same as what you would experience as a plane climbs into the sky, or when driving up a steep hill. If the aural fullness is due to Meniere’s, there will be an amount of permanent hearing loss. There are different treatment options that help to delay some of the permanent issues of hearing loss in Meniere’s.

A tube may be placed in the canal to help fluids drain if the cause is improper drainage. Your physician will evaluate the extent and verify that there is no other cause for the aural fullness.
