Iron deficiency can also have negative effects on your nails and hair, especially in the long-term. This is why people with iron deficiency will have dry, brittle, and damaged hair and nails.
Just like with the other parts and organs in our body, our nails, hair, and skin need enough oxygen in order to function well. Therefore, if these body parts do not receive enough oxygen due to the lack of iron, they will be damaged. The hair follicles will become fragile and will break easily. It is normal for hair to fall, but if you are losing clumps of hair, then this may be due to iron deficiency.
