6. Heart Palpitations
Having heart palpitations is also a sign of iron deficiency. It is a common complaint among those who are low in iron. Indeed, noticeable heartbeats are among the most common symptoms of iron-deficiency anemia. As mentioned, hemoglobin helps the red blood cells distribute oxygen into the body organs and tissues. Due to the lack of iron, the heart will need to work very hard to carry oxygen.
The heart palpitations will eventually go away once the iron level is back to normal. If this condition is left untreated, it can lead to heart murmur, an enlarged heart that can possibly result in heart failure.
