9. Wheezing & Asthma-like Symptoms
Another set of symptoms of hiatal hernia is having wheezing and asthma-like symptoms. These are also related to acid reflux causes by hiatal hernia. Studies suggest that there is a huge connection between acid reflux and asthma. Acid reflux symptoms appear in about sixty percent of asthma cases. As the acid in the stomach moves up to the upper parts of the digestive tract and affects the upper respiratory functions as well, a wheezing sound is produced due to difficulty in breathing.
Wheezing is also one of the most obvious symptoms an asthma patient may experience. If you are having a tough time and notice a strange sound when breathing, consult your doctor for possible asthma or hiatal hernia.
