9. Viral Meningitis
Viral meningitis is another common symptom of hand foot mouth disease. This is a serious inflammatory infection that affects the membranes, which is known as the meninges, which is where the name of the condition was derived from. Meninges refer to the membrane that surrounds the brain and the cerebrospinal fluid.
If the virus that is causing HFMD will not go through the body in a normal process, the patient can contract viral meningitis. In most cases, there is no specific treatment required for viral meningitis and those who suffer from mild cases of viral meningitis will usually recover completely after a week.
