8. Autoimmune Disease
Contracting an autoimmue disease is another sign and symptom of gluten allergy. The immune system works wonders in fighting diseases and infections in the body. When a bacteria, virus, or parasite is detected inside the body, our immune system kicks-in to combat and eliminate these before they do serious harm to any of our vital parts. In certain cases, our immune system gets compromised and confused which leads it to attack components or elements that are beneficial for the body.
This condition is referred to as auto-immune diseases. Intolerance to gluten is one example of an auto-immune disorder called celiac disease. It is important to let your doctor know as it may result in anemia and poor nutrition.
