6. Sudden Visual Disturbance

Sudden visual disturbance is another symptom of glaucoma. Some who have glaucoma have reported seeing unusual images that doctors referred to as the “sudden visual disturbances”. Those with migraines are familiar with these types of disturbances.

In some cases, patients with glaucoma will also experience photopsia, where they see bright flashes of light that resembles a camera flash. Other people will also experience metamorphopsia, where there is a distortion of color, size, and shape of their visual images. Metamorphopsia will cause linear objects, such as lines or grids to look curvy. Patients will also experience blind spots in the middle of the eye’s field of vision.
