8. Appetite Loss
Appetite loss is another symptom of chickenpox. The virus infection will decrease the patient’s desire to eat and this can lead to weight loss. Sometimes, the loss of appetite is accompanied by other symptoms like vomiting and nausea. Some patients who have chicken pox will also experience an inflammation of their gastrointestinal system.
In most cases, chicken pox will only last for a short period of time and once the patient heals, the patient’s appetite will be back to normal. It is not recommended to force the patient to eat if they refuse food because this will only make them vomit even more. However, parents should try to feed their child when they complain about being hungry.
