7. Loud Bowel Sounds
Also known as stomach rumble, loud bowel sounds refer to that sound produced as a result of the peristaltic movements of the gastrointestinal tract. These sounds can be heard with the use of a stethoscope. However, there are certain conditions that can produce very loud bowel sounds, loud enough that can be heard with bare ears. This condition is called Borborygmus.
Borborygmus produces rumbling or gurgling sounds produced by the movement of gas and fluid inside the intestines. This symptom is common in people with bowel obstruction and occurs when the contents inside the intestines would attempt to move forward. The loud sounds can also be triggered by incomplete food digestion, hunger, digestive diseases, and more.
