3. Heartburn
Heartburn is another sign and symptom of stomach ulcer. The juices produced in the stomach are also responsible for breaking down the foods we consume in order to extract the nutrients. Thus, they are acidic and can be harsh to some organs in our body. Our stomach is kept protected from these acidic juices by a protective lining.
For patients with stomach ulcers, these acidic juices can leak out of the stomach and into the esophagus. This can burn the esophagus walls and will lead to a condition commonly known as heartburn or acid reflux. There are medications that can treat this condition and soothe heartburn symptoms.
