8. Vegetables
Most vegetables, particularly those that are eaten raw are going to be difficult for the digestive system to break down. This is because of the fibrous content or cellulose present in vegetables. People with diverticulosis lack the necessary intestinal bacteria to create the necessary enzymes called cellulases to breakdown some vegetables. Other vegetables like onions and garlic contain fructans (fructose molecules) that can make certain vegetables extremely difficult to digest. It can result in bloating, gas and diarrhea.
