Fruits, in general, such as pears, apples and plums are fibrous. The fiber content makes many fruits difficult to digest. In addition, natural sugars, such as sorbitol, present in some fruits like peaches, prunes and apples makes it hard for your stomach to digest. When those natural sugars make their way to the large intestine, it can cause ailments such as bloating, gas and diarrhea in those who suffer from diverticulosis.
