8. Tender Lymph Nodes

Swollen lymph nodes are an obvious sign that something is wrong. Lymph nodes refer to those tiny tissues that act as filters and will help to fight off the infection. There are plenty of lymph nodes in our neck and head. Since the tonsils have tissues that are similar to lymph nodes, they will also react in the same way.

For patients with tonsillitis, the lymph nodes on the neck area will usually get tender or swollen, especially if tonsillitis will spread beyond the tonsils. These lymph nodes are painful to touch and will make it even more difficult to swallow.
