9. Dry Mouth
Another panic attack symptom that may be a cause of rapid breathing or hyperventilation during an attack is having a dry mouth. When a sufferer breathes heavily or grasps for air, the normal response of the body would be to open the mouth as it helps with the airflow. Consistently doing this will prevent the production of saliva, which lubricates and moisturizes the mouth.
People with anxiety who encounter a dry mouth should increase their liquid or water intake to avoid cracking of the lips. Applying balms may also alleviate the pain caused by dryness. Dry mouth may also mean other serious disorders, consult your doctor what may be causing the issue.
