8. Ascites
Ascites refer to the abnormal buildup of fluid in the abdomen. Some of the symptoms are abnormal increase of abdomen’s size, sudden increase in weight because of the buildup of fluid within the abdominal cavity, breathlessness, and abdominal discomfort.
It is not known what causes ascites and the cause will usually vary from one person to another. However, this symptom is usually attributed to peritoneal or lymphatic metastases. The treatment can come in the form of diuretic medication or a procedure known as an abdominal tap where a needle will be inserted into the abdomen in order to draw excess fluid out.
