8. Cracks in the Corners of the Mouth
Another sign of oral thrush is having cracks or breakage in the oral commissures – the part of our mouth that connects the upper and lower lips. Furthermore, oral commissures are soft, sensitive, and are prone to tear especially when the mouth or the lips become very dry and irritated.
Although this is not a specific symptom of oral thrush as there are multiple reasons it may happen such as a change in environment and nutrient deficiency, most severe cases of oral thrush display this symptom. The cracks in the corners of the mouth may cause a very painful and sometimes a burning sensation around the affected area.
