7. Neck Muscle Weakness
Myasthenia gravis not only affect the muscle movements around the eyes, mouth, or throat, it may also affect the neck muscles that are responsible for holding up the weight of our head, helps in turning it left and right, as well as small extensions we usually do for certain activities.
Neck muscle weakness is an obvious effect once the proximal muscles are affected. These muscles are located around the lateral middle of our body where the neck is located. In severe cases, patients are observed to have the “dropped head syndrome” which is also a symptom of different neuromuscular diseases.
