4. Difficulty Swallowing
One of the symptoms of myasthenia gravis and also associated with having difficulty in chewing is dysphagia. It is described as experiencing a hard time swallowing liquid or solid foods. This often starts with the jaws not being able to close properly that results in aspiration while drinking or eating thus causing someone to choke, cough up, or encounter regurgitation.
Difficulty in swallowing can cause further adverse effects to the patient such as loss of appetite and vomiting. Dysphagia often goes away on its own; however, the later stages of this disease may mean longer periods and harder treatment of this difficulty.
