5. Bone and Joint Pain
Another sign of leukemia is having bone and joint pain. Both the red and white blood cells are produced in our bone marrows, a soft tissue located in our bones which houses stem cells. When there is an abnormal or overproduction of white blood cells and cancer cells in the body, most of it is collected and stuck in the bone marrow causing radiating pain to the bones and joints.
In some cases, these harmful cells also flock around the nerves of the spine resulting in body pain and discomfort. Bone pain can usually be felt even during the early stages of leukemia and progresses as cancer spreads out to the body.
