4. Shortness of Breath

Shortness of breath can also be a sign and symptoms of iron deficiency. It can be a problem among active individuals who are regularly working out. If you have iron deficiency, you will not be getting enough oxygen in your body, which is why you will have a hard time breathing while exercising.

When the level of hemoglobin in your body is lower than usual, your body will not get enough amount of oxygenated blood. Therefore, your lungs, heart, and the rest of your body will have to work even harder for them to function normally. This will increase your rate of breathing that will eventually lead to shortness of breath especially when you are performing strenuous exercises.
