7. Photophobia
In most cases, retinal detachment is often followed by posterior vitreous detachment. This condition can trigger various symptoms including light flashes, floaters, feeling of heaviness in the affected eye, as well as photophobia. Photophobia refers to the feeling of discomfort that the patient will feel when the eyes are exposed to light.
This is a symptom that can also be seen in other conditions, such as meningitis, migraines, corneal dystrophy, corneal abrasion, ulcerative keratitis, and many more. It can also happen as a side effect of certain medications. To minimize the discomfort, the patient will be required to wear tinted spectacles.
