4. Visual Impairment
Loss of vision or visual impairment happens when the patient’s ability to see will diminish. This is another symptom of retinal detachment that a patient can encounter. However, take note that the condition will only be called visual impairment if the patient’s ability to see cannot be restored back to the normal means.
Visual impairment can pose difficulties in the patient’s everyday routines, such as walking, driving, reading, and socializing. For those who have a detached retina, there is a risk that the vision loss can become permanent, especially if no treatment is given. Other eye conditions that can lead to visual impairment are cataract, macular degeneration, trachoma, river blindness, diabetic retinopathy, etc.
