4. Confusion
Another early warning sign of dementia is confusion, from a bit of cloudiness to constant state of mental disarray. One of the most common cases is the patient’s inability to recognize the face of a person close to them. Confusion will also lead the patient to make a poor judgment. In some situations, the patient may stop interacting with people and will avoid those activities they used to enjoy.
Confusion is one of the triggers of mood swings and agitation in people with dementia. There are many reasons why a patient becomes confused. It can be due to triggers such as disrupted train of thoughts, mistaken memories, change of environment or caregiver etc.
