7. Anal Swelling
Chlamydia may also affect the anus or rectum. Hence a common chlamydia symptom is swelling in the anus. Most of the time, this happens when the infection spreads from the vagina to the anal region due to the close proximity. It can also be a result of unprotected anal sex. This symptom can make it extremely difficult and painful for the patient to defecate, which is similar to diseases like hemorrhoids and gonorrhea.
Sometimes, the swelling is not necessarily painful, although it is common. There are also situations where chlamydia is only restricted to a specific area. During the most extreme circumstances, it can be difficult for the patient to remain seated.
