6. A Sore Throat
Like difficulty in swallowing, having a sore throat is another unusual sign of a burning mouth syndrome. It is connected to experiencing a burning sensation in the mouth as this may lead or spread to the throat if not given proper medical attention. Sore throats due to BMS can be described as having the same painful sensation in the mouth, which is burning or scorching.
Since it is an unusual symptom, sore throat is often misdiagnosed as other health issues such as pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and more. Make sure to contact your doctor if you have a persistent sore throat, it could mean an advanced case of burning mouth syndrome or other serious conditions.
