6. Heart Palpitations
When your heartbeats become noticeable, it is called heart palpitations. This is one of the classic signs of severe anemia. When your hemoglobin levels are too low, your heart needs to work much harder to transport oxygen. This can cause the sensation of your heart beating extremely quickly or an irregular heartbeat. If your anemia becomes extreme, the result can be heart failure, a heart murmur or an enlarged heart. This is not one of the most common symptoms. This can only occur if you have had anemia for an extended period of time.
