Energy bars are dangerous food for prediabetics and diabetics especially due to its deceiving healthy image. Known to be a low-fat snack for atheletes, a small piece of generic energy bar is condensed with lots of carbs and sugar, up to 450 calories and 60g of carbs. Not such an ideal snack for diabetics afterall.
Tip: Look for products which are more diabetes-friendly with a balance of proteins and carbs. They usually contain nuts, seeds and whole grains. Or you can also make them yourself!
