Anyone diagnosed with diabetes is subceptible to diabetic neuropathy. However, there measure that can be taken to reduce the risk of diabetic neuropathy:
Blood pressure should be kept within normal levels. Check it often.
Limit sugar and carbohydrates intake to keep blood sugar levels under control. Check it often.
Eat nutritious food comprising whole grains, vegetables and fruits.
Reduce portion sizes so that your weight falls within acceptable limits.
Lead a physically active life as this will protect your heart and increase your blood flow to keep your blood pressure and blood sugar under control. Exercising 30 minutes a day for five days a week is recommended.
Stop smoking.
