Diabetic Neuropathy: Symptoms

Early detection of diabetic neuropathy is important to prevent further damage to to the body.

Depending on the type of neuropathy one is suffering from or diagnosed with, the signs and symptoms are:

  • Skin: If skin is affected, the patient experiences numbness, tingling and pain. Persistent ulcers and sores on the feet and hands may also develop.

  • Digestive system: If the digestive system is affected, the patient experiences constipation, heartburn, bloating, diarrhea, vomiting and nausea.

  • Urinary tract: If the urinary system is so badly affected that the patient cannot urinate, he will experience incontinence, bloating and increased urination during the night.

  • Other symptoms include blacking out when standing up quickly, escalated heart rate, fainting, feeling of satiation, nausea, low blood pressure and vomiting.
