• Next, have normal blood pressure and cholesterol levels as together they can put you at high risk for eye disease and loss of vision. Your eye and overall health will be under control greatly if you keep these two components within normal limits.

• By giving up smoking, you lower your risk for diabetic retinopathy and several diabetes-related eye problems.

• Be in constant touch with your ophthalmologist while you are still diabetic as he will monitor your path to recovery.
