Why Fruits Can Be Bad For Diabetics?

Fruits can be bad for diabetics if...

  • you eat them canned, since they are usually loaded with sweet syrup.

  • you snack on its dried form without control. Although the size of the dried fruit is significantly reduced from its fresh original form, the amount of sugar did not. Every piece of dried fruit is concentrated with natural sugar and should be consumed in moderation.

  • you drink them as juice. Again, the juice of a fruit contains a concentration of its natural sugar. In order to make 1 serving of fruit juice, we need at least double the serving of fruit. Hence, we end up consuming more sugars then we would if we ate the fruit instead. Furthermore, when we only consume the juice of a fruit, we lose the benefit of blood sugar regulating fiber of the fruit.
