#3: Blueberries are rich in antioxidants
Blueberries and all other berries contain antioxidants in abundance. These natural compounds, also found in a broad range of fruits and vegetables, help delay chronic age-related diseases. Being rich in antioxidants also helps prevent diabetes and lower one's risk for cancer and heart disease. Anthocyanin, one of the compounds contained in blueberries, has antioxidant properties which help increase insulin sensitivity.
The other compound contained in blueberries, Pterostilbene, lowers blood glucose levels while increasing hemoglobin and insulin levels.
For those already diagnosed with diabetes, eating a diet rich in antioxidants can prevent all health issues related to diabetes, such as heart disease, kidney impairment, etc.
