If you have a job that requires you to get out of your home (technicaly 95% of jobs are), it is better that you plan your meals beforehand so that you do not end up eating junk that your body will hate. As what most people say, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Make sure you get up earlier to grab a healthy hearty breakfast at home before leaving for work. But more importantly, remember to plan your lunches ahead. Most working adults are more likely to make unwise choices for lunch as compared to the other two meals of the day due to time constraints. Planning and packing a healthy lunch suited to your diabetes diet will keep you from grabbing that Subway cold cut trio.
The best time to plan for meals is obviously during the weekends. If you can, go the grocery stores and stock up for the week before Monday comes! It might seem like a chore initially but you will soon get use to it and realize that it actually helps you save money on takeouts. All you need is some commitment and discipline at the start and soon it would be a weekly affair you cannot do without. Here is one extra: plan an extra healthy dinner and prepare more so you can take the leftovers for lunch the next day.
