Lentils

As mentioned earlier on, fibromyalgia patients are recommended to avoid eating white or simple carbohydrates which increase insulin, pain sensitivity and cause mood fluctuations. Instead, people with fibromyalgia should include wholegrains as a source of staple. Lentils, although low in carbohydrates content, serve as a good substitute of white carbohydrates like rice, pasta and bread. It is rich in plant-based protein, a good alternative to animal protein, and fiber which help keep a person full and most importantly, promote a stable blood sugar and insulin level hence preventing fibromyalgia flare.

Lentils are also rich in many essential nutrients, like folate, copper, phosphorus, manganese and iron etc, which help to promote healthy body functions.
