Research has found that fibromyalgia patients have a significantly lower level of serotonin, a neurotransmitter responsible for mood, sleep and memory, in their brain. Although serotonin can only be produced within our body, mainly the brain and gastrointestines, increasing the intake of trytophan, a key component of serotonin, can increase the production of the neurotransmitter. This brings us to our next best food for fibromyalgia, chickpeas. Chickpeas are one of the richest source of trytophan which promotes serotonin production.
