Why is it always ignored?

In a recent study, a doctor mentioned that when people are diagnosed with diabetes, their first reaction would be “Oh, diabetes, it’s not a big deal, they just check your sugars and I’ve got to manage my diet.” Another main reason is that diabetes is such a common problem in the US, about 29.1 million people have diabetes – a staggering 9.3% of the total population! Hence, the shrugging off of the seriousness of diabetes.

The challenge have always been to get diabetics to start to care more about this chronic problem.
