Reversible VS Remissible

Going back to the question, "is type 2 diabetes reversible?" Clinical director of the Mount Sinai Diabetes Center in New York City, Dr Ronald Tamler who struggled with the term replied in an interview:

“I don’t like the term reversible because [diabetes] is always a predisposition that you have. It’s always something that is with you, but it can go into remission."

In medical terms, a condition that is in remission means its effects have decreased or subsided temporarily or sometimes permanently. However the patient is still subjected to a relapse. This means that there is a possibility for diabetic patients to improve their condition or revert to a state of healthy functioning but not entirely eliminate the genetic predisposition and risk.

So how exactly can diabetes get into a state remission?
