It is not uncommon for diabetic patients to increase dosage of medication without consulting their doctors whenever they see a trend of higher blood glucose levels in their daily measurements. However, self medication or self adjusting your dosage can lead to unwanted conditions such as hypoglycemia and should be avoided.
If you notice a consistently high blood glucose measurements, speak to your doctor about it. Type 2 diabetes is a progressive condition and is likely to worsen given a lack of care. Your doctor may give you an additional drug or change your medication when needed. Nevertheless, it is not always necessary to adjust your medications. Making changes to your diet could simply do the trick.
