How To Read Food Labels With Diabetes

Sugar-free Products

Remember that sugar-free does not necessarily mean carbohydrate free. Foods that are considered sugar-free might also affect your diabetes diet. A sugar-free food means that a serving has less than 0.5 gram of sugar. If you are choosing between a standard product and another product that’s sugar-free, make sure you compare the labels.

Remember that sugar alcohols also have carbohydrates and calories. In the same way, products that have sugar alcohols are not necessarily low in calories or carbohydrates.
