Colon polyps happen when a cluster of cells form along the lining of the intestines. Although colon polyps are totally harmless and do not cause severe pain, some conditions may display symptoms such as blackening of the stool and red bloody stripes or spots in the stool.

It is important to see a doctor for diagnosis if you believe that your bloody stool is due to colon polyps.
