Do not undereat or overeat: We stop eating when neurons that regulate our hunger in the brain inform us that we've had enough. Now, these neurons perform another duty too--when we eat enough, white fat turns to brown, and when we under-eat, white fat is prevented from turning brown. On the flip side, overeating increases white fat production and interferes with the ability of brown fat to burn calories.
Exercise: This is still the best way of burning fat because exercise sets off the release of the enzyme irisin that causes white fat cells to convert to brown. Among men it leads to browning of fat.
