Alcohol and the Diabetic Rules


Many times, your appetite will be triggered causing you to feel hungry. Overindulgence and may affect your ability to make healthy food choices as well as your ability to successfully manage your blood sugar.

What is not often known is that there are some ways in which drinking alcohol may be confused for or cover up the warning signs of dangerously low blood sugar levels. With each drink a diabetic takes, hypertension is a greater possibility, flushing of the face, increased heart rate, slurred speech, and nausea or vomiting are increasingly likely. Alcohol can negatively affect the beneficial effects of oral diabetes medications or insulin.
